Welcome! I’m Khudeja Williams, Founder of Sweet Dreams Sleep Consulting and Paediatric Sleep Consultant. I’m happily married to my wonderful husband, and am a mother to an amazing little boy named Adam, who was born 8 weeks premature. As first-time parents with an early baby, we were lost. While I was pregnant, I’d read many books on sleep and raising children, but nothing prepared me for sleep deprivation and caring for a tiny 3.5 lb boy. Sleep is not a luxury. It is a biological need. I’m passionate about sleep because I’ve been there! Adam wasn't always an amazing sleeper. I’ve experienced many sleepless nights when raising my son. I’ve read all the conflicting advice and opinions on the Internet. I understand the impact that a lack of sleep can have, not only on your baby, but on your entire family dynamic. I’ve seen, first-hand, the difference that healthy sleep can make. And I know that there isn't a "one size fits all" solution when it comes to finding restorative and quality sleep.
If you’re exhausted and overwhelmed by your child’s sleep difficulties, please contact me. We’ll schedule a free 20-minute phone consultation so I can learn about your little one and your current situation. I’ll offer advice and support, and we’ll discuss how I can help you and your family get the healthy sleep you all need and deserve.
I practice and believe in a holistic, gentle, and positive, parent-present approach, which is compatible with the Attachment Parenting philosophy. I work one-on-one with families to build a plan that works uniquely for them. I help families teach their children the challenging new skill of falling asleep, while being hands on, offering support and comfort. My goal is to educate parents about healthy sleep habits and what to expect. Your baby’s biological needs, cognitive and physical development are always at the forefront while developing healthy sleep habits.
WILL MY BABY CRY?
My method does not involve leaving your child alone until they fall asleep without support. My approach encourages the development of a secure attachment between parent and child. You will always be there to support your child! - AND crying is one way that a child protests change. You can expect that making changes to their sleep habits will result in some protest. If you’ve held, rocked, and fed your baby to sleep for all naps, bedtimes and wakings, and then you decide that you want to change this routine, your child will naturally resist this change. After all, they don’t know why you’re changing your approach.
“I was very hesitant about this plan working. My husband and I had hired a sleep consultant through a different company with very little success. We eventually went back to our old habits, which was having our little one being nursed to sleep every night, and waking up every 30-90 minutes until I just gave up and brought him into bed with me. With Khudeja, by the third night our 6-month-old was sleeping right through the night. There were many days when I wanted to give up because bedtimes were hard and naps weren't going well, but Khudeja continued to offer support, encouragement and instruction and now our little one naps for at least 1.5 hours twice a day, he is no longer nursing all day, and I have a little time to myself, which I believe is making me a better mother. I can't say enough good things about Sweet Dreams. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!”
“What a difference a month of great sleep makes! In the early months, my daughter was a good sleeper, and we felt lucky that she only woke up twice to nurse and then go right back to sleep. But the nasty fourth month regression reared its head and we had to “wear” her or I would nurse her all night if we wanted her to sleep. Co-sleeping was not comfortable for me and having a baby latched to me all night meant that I was low energy all the time. After working with Khudeja, our daughter (almost 7 months) goes to sleep on her own VERY easily and with a smile on her face. Don't kid yourselves though - the training can be very difficult but it doesn't last and what you're left with is a happy baby who anyone can put down for sleep. Anyone who knows Zoë has noticed a huge difference in her disposition. And a bonus: Our evenings (after 6) feel like pre-kid days - dinners together and conversation. It's a total game-changer. Thanks Khudeja for your constant support and guidance!”
“When we contacted Khudeja it was because we were at our wits’ end with our 6-month-old son. He slept in our room and he wouldn’t sleep without touch or motion and would wake several times a night for feedings. For his sake and ours we knew we had to get some help with learning what he needed from us. Khudeja helped us see what was going wrong and how we could all benefit from a more consistent system. She made it as simple as it could be for us to implement a new sleep plan and transition him to his crib, even providing ideal daily schedules and new step-by-step bath time and nap time routines. The first few days were the hardest but I felt that my son and I were completely supported and then its got easier and easier. My son was born prematurely and has a few developmental issues that caused concern for us with him crying or getting too worked up but Khudeja worked very closely with us to ensure he was safe and everyone was comfortable. Now a couple of weeks later my son sleeps 13 hours and has 2 - 3 naps and because of that he is growing faster and stronger than ever and he is the happiest little guy around! My husband and I learned the importance of honouring his naps and awake times and to respect the routine. We feel like our lives are starting to come together and we can really enjoy the time we have with our son but still have our private adult time after he goes to bed every night. Thanks Khudeja!”
“Through Mommy Connections London we went to one of Khudeja's sleep seminars. Once we read about her services and after getting up 6+ times a night for the past 5 months to nurse by baby back to sleep, we knew it was a no-brainer. 10 days guaranteed to sleep through the night?! We were skeptical, but I could not believe the quick results! I'll admit that the first night was hard, even though we were by her side the whole time. But doing this together with Khudeja for reassurance and support made all the difference. Thank you so much for all your shared knowledge, words of encouragement and for changing our lives, literally! We are so glad we trusted you.”
